About the 2010 Framepool/ LBBOnline/ Fireflies Challenge Framepool, the footage collection run by filmmakers, and LBBOnline, the advertising community website, created this award dedicated to the Fireflies organisation. The Fireflies are committed to raising awareness and money for the fight against Leukaemia. Each year amateur cyclists from the ranks of the advertising and film world participate in the "Fireflies Tour" and cycle across the Alps from Geneva to Cannes. They were inspired by the courage it takes to fight Cancer. In allusion to this background, contestants of the challenge were asked to craft a beautiful piece of work showing their take on the meaning of the word 'courage'. The jury of the challenge is global, highly prominent and represents many different advertising sectors: Jake Scott (RSA), Olivier Altmann (Publicis), Ringan Ledwidge (Rattling Stick), Stefan Sonnenfeld (Company 3), Sandy Watson Scott (The Fireflies), Wolf Jaiser (Framepool, 16tracks), Barnsley (The Mill), Piyush Pandey (Ogilvy), Kim Gehrig (Academy), Steffen Gentis (BBDO) and others. About Fireflies The Fireflies Tour was established in 2001 by Sandy Watson Scott (then Head of TV, M&C Saatchi) in recognition of relatives and friends’ battles with cancer. The five cofounders: Jake Scott, Adrian Moat, Nick Livesey (all Directors at RSA Films), Tim Page (Head of TV at Y&R) and Chris Haworth (Ski Instructor) set out to cycle 1,000 km, 18 mountains in just 8 days from Lake Evian across the Alps to Cannes, arriving during the Cannes Lions Advertising Festival. Inspired by the courage it takes to fight cancer the riders annually tackle the most gruelling climbs of Le Tour de France. Their motto is simple: "for those who suffer we ride". The Fireflies are committed to raising money for LEUKA, a charity formed to support Research & Treatment of Leukaemia at the Hammersmith Hospital, London, renowned as a world leader in the treatment of cancers of the blood. Each year new amateur cyclists from the ranks of the advertising and film world have taken up the challenge. Thanks to industry sponsors, to date from 2001-09, the Fireflies have raised an incredible £800,000 in aid of LEUKA. | FOOTAGE AND ARTS – A PERFECT SYMBIOSIS Framepool provides content for two films of François Lévy-Kuentz: "Quand l’Art prend le pouvoir" and "Calder, Sculpteur de l’Air" |

"Quand l’Art prend le pouvoir" or "When Art Seizes Power" shows the aesthetic, political and social backgrounds behind the artistic formation "La Figuration Narrative" – a group of European artists in the years around the student protests 1968. The documentary contains a lot of original film material dating back to the 1960ies: Be it the contemporary design of consumer goods, the insight into cultural developments or political events – again, François Lévy-Kuentz made use of stock footage from Framepool to evoke authenticity. "We are always pleased to provide footage for highly acknowledged documentaries like those of François Lévy-Kuentz now," says Jean-Charles Pentecouteau, Directeur Framepool Paris. "Filmmakers are artists – and we are proud to enable great works by offering state-of-the-art quality and diversity with our collection."
